HM Treasury has launched a final consultation ahead of a ban on pensions cold calling, which is expected to be introduced later in the year. The consultation sets out the policy interventions behind the proposed cold calling ban, inviting comments on the draft regulations. It’s the second time the government has consulted on this policy, which is designed to protect vulnerable pension holders from dubious sales practices originating with an unsolicited phone call. Because the government has consulted on the pensions cold calling ban before, this new consultation is a technical consultation designed to seek final views on the draft regulations, making sure these meet the desired policy objectives.
