The cost challenges facing first-time buyers increased significantly in the past year.
The average purchase price increased by 9%, while the average deposit increased by 7%. That’s according to the latest research by Halifax.
First-time buyers paid an average price of £231,455 in 2019, up by £18,252 (9%) from a year earlier, when it stood at £213,203.
