Article preview: Annual house price growth has slowed to its lowest level in five years. The latest Halifax House Price Index shows prices in the quarter between August and October were 1.5% higher than during the same period a year earlier. However, price growth slowed from the 2.5% annual rate recorded in September. This means house prices are now growing on an annual basis at their slowest rate since March 2013. Prices rose by just 0.2% during the latest quarter, recording a 0.7% monthly growth rate. Average prices had previously fallen in two consecutive months.
