Article preview: Economics is central to our daily lives, and economic concepts are in sharp focus this year, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite the importance of understanding economic concepts, research on public understanding of the subject is surprisingly sparse. Historically, studies have found that the public don’t understand the basics of economic issues, but have gone into little depth beyond this headline level of understanding. In an attempt to better analyse public understanding of economics, the Economics Statistics Centre of Excellence (ESCoE) have published a new report, Public Understanding of Economics and Economic Statistics.
