The latest investigatory letters follow 24,000 sent to self-employed people last year, in respect of claims where the self-employed individual said they had ceased trading due to the pandemic. There have been three rounds of grant payments to date for the Self-Employed Income Support Scheme, with around £18.5 billion worth of grants paid to self-employed people whose profits were affected by Covid-19.
