If you’re married or in a civil partnership, you may be entitled to a £1,000 tax break called the marriage tax allowance.
Many may miss out on obtaining maximum benefit from the Marriage Allowance, according to the Low Incomes Tax Reform Group (LITRG) which is urging people to contact HMRC before 6th April 2020.
The Marriage Allowance was introduced on 6th April 2015.
It allows eligible spouses or civil partners to claim the Marriage Allowance for the current tax year and also for the four previous tax years and can mean a tax reduction to the recipient of more than £200 per year.
